Natura International Polska

In June 2008 Natura International established a conservation foundation in Poland. Natura International Polska will promote the same aims and objectives as the main charity and is based in Elblag, near Gdansk. The status of a foundation will enable us to support conservation organisations, with the initial focus on development of young conservationists from Eastern and Central Europe.

In 2007 we were working in a close partnership with the Eagle Conservation Committee, Polish Society for the Protection of Birds (Bialystok) and FPP Consulting to develop a Life+ project on the integrated conservation of Lesser Spotted Eagle and Corncrake in Denmark, Germany, Poland and Lithuania. We also continue to work with the Institute for the Ecology of the Carpathians in Lvov. Our office in Poland will bring us closer to our partners in Poland and to the conservation challenges that faces Eastern Europe.

This year we will be submitting a large proposal for practical conservation of wet meadows and other non-forest patches in the Ukrainian Carpathians. We are also dedicated to continue organising workshops in the region, following an enormous success of the European Funding Workshop organised last year in Warsaw.

WWF web-based tool to explore European Funding sources for financing Natura 2000 has been launched.

Natura International has submitted a Life+ proposal for the conservation of Lesser Spotted Eagle and Corncrake in the European Lowlands. The project is a truly international initiative including 15 partners and spanning from Denmark, Germany, Poland to Lithuania with a total budget in excess of 11 mill Euro.
